Ōme Station, Railway station in Ome, Japan
Ōme Station is a railway station above ground in the city of Ōme, located about 50 kilometers west of Tokyo on the Ōme Line. The facility features one island platform connected to the main building via an underground passage that serves two tracks for bidirectional train traffic.
The station was founded in November 1894 and experienced a major turning point with nationalization in 1944. Following the dissolution of Japanese National Railways, it became part of East Japan Railway Company's operations.
The station uses the theme song from the anime Himitsu no Akko-chan as departure melody, representing modern Japanese entertainment integration into daily life.
The station is well-equipped with a staffed ticket office and offers regular connections to trains traveling between Tachikawa and western Tokyo destinations. Visitors can use the underground passage to safely move between the platform and the main building.
The station was originally designed as an exchange point to efficiently manage train traffic heading westward from Tokyo. This historical role as a transfer hub remains visible in how the facility operates today.
