Shiofune Kannon Temple, Buddhist temple in Ome, Japan.

Shiofune Kannon Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary with multiple wooden buildings set on a hillside, surrounded by approximately 20,000 azalea bushes. The complex spreads across the grounds with various structures that work together to create a place of worship.

The temple was founded during the Taika period between 645 and 650 when monk Gyoki first settled the grounds. The name emerged because the surrounding landscape resembled the shape of a ship.

The temple houses important religious artwork from the Kamakura period, including an eleven-headed Thousand-Armed Kannon statue and twenty-eight attendant figures. These sacred works reflect the deep spiritual meaning this place holds for the local community.

The grounds sit on a hillside and can be reached on foot. A pleasant walk of about ten minutes from the bus stop makes the journey to the complex a relaxed experience.

Ancient cedar trees grow on the grounds, known as the Husband and Wife Cedars, protected as natural monuments since 1953. These remarkable trees stand as a quiet testament to the site's long connection to the land.
