Konosu is a city in Saitama Prefecture situated in the east-central part of the region, consisting of several neighborhoods and a residential population. Streets mostly run straight through residential and commercial districts spread around multiple train stations.
The area developed during the Edo period as a stopping point along the Nakasendo road between Edo and Kyoto. The municipality gained city status in 1954 after merging several towns.
The name Konosu means „stork's nest
Several train lines connect the city with Tokyo in about an hour, with trains running frequently. Cycling is a common way to move around, as the terrain is flat and streets are wide.
A doll from the local factory was sent into space and returned to Earth. Visitors can see a large doll exhibition every February, where step pyramids are built with hundreds of figures.
