Marugame

Marugame extends along the Seto Inland Sea coast, encompassing multiple islands and featuring Mount Tsutsumi rising in the southern section of the municipality.

The city developed from an entry point for pilgrims visiting Kotohira-gu shrine during the Heian period into a castle town under Kyogoku clan rule.
