Kamigōri Station, Railway station in Kamigōri, Japan
Kamigōri Station is a railway station in Kamigōri operated by West Japan Railway Company and Chizu Express, serving as a connection point between the San'yō Main Line and the Chizu Line. The station has two island platforms at ground level connected by a footbridge, with one platform section remaining unused.
The station opened in 1895 as part of Japan's national railway network. Following the major railway privatization of 1987, it was transferred to West Japan Railway Company.
The station serves as a daily hub where local students, residents, and travelers meet and pass through on their journeys. Its location near schools and the town hall makes it central to how people move through their community.
The station is staffed daily and handles over 3,000 passengers, making it a busy transit point with clear signage and facilities. Getting around the station is straightforward thanks to the central footbridge connecting both platforms.
One side of an island platform remains unused, a quirk that reflects how the station adapted to changing needs without completely rebuilding its original design. This kind of partial vacancy is common at stations where passenger patterns shifted over time.
