Ōtemachi Station, Underground metro junction in Chiyoda district, Japan
Ōtemachi Station is an underground railway hub in central Tokyo that connects five different metro lines through multiple levels. The station features a network of platforms and corridors designed to route passengers between the Marunouchi, Tōzai, Chiyoda, Mita, and Hanzōmon lines.
The station opened in 1956 with the Marunouchi Line and expanded as additional metro lines were built. Subsequent additions of other lines transformed it into a major transportation junction over several decades.
The station serves Tokyo's financial center, where thousands of employees in traditional business attire navigate through the corridors during rush hours.
The station features signage in Japanese and English to help passengers navigate between the five metro lines. Transfers between lines require walking through corridors, so allow extra time if you need to switch lines.
The station processes over 312,000 passengers daily, making it the second most frequented station in the Tokyo Metro network after Ikebukuro.
