Tōfukuji Station, Railway station in Higashiyama-ku, Japan.
Tōfukuji Station is a railway station in Kyoto served by Keihan Railway and JR West Nara Line. The facility has four platforms total, with two dedicated to each railway company.
The station opened in 1910 serving only Keihan Railway, with a second platform added in 1957 for the Nara Line. This expansion connected two major railway lines at one location.
The station takes its name from the nearby Tōfuku-ji Temple, one of Japan's principal Zen Buddhist centers. Many visitors use the station as their entry point to reach this important religious site.
The station is well-signed and transfer routes between the two railway systems are clearly marked. Visitors should use the appropriate entrance to reach their desired line more quickly.
The station offers views of autumn foliage from its platforms when the nearby temple's trees change color, creating a colorful backdrop. During peak season, it becomes especially crowded as thousands of visitors head to the temple.
