Studio Hibari is an animation studio in Nerima-ku, Tokyo. The company produces television series, theatrical films, and also works in the video game industry.
Sachiko and Hiroyoshi Mitsunobu founded the studio in 1979 in Oizumi, Gunma Prefecture. The move to Nerima took place in 1998, and the creation of subsidiary brand Lerche followed in 2011.
The studio released its first television animation series titled Sensual Phrase in 1999, leading to numerous productions including Assassination Classroom.
The company operates several subsidiaries including Larx Entertainment and maintains additional offices in Ho Chi Minh City for international production. Nerima is a ward in northwestern Tokyo accessible by city transit.
Most of the company's current productions release under the name Lerche, a brand created specifically for animation work. Sensual Phrase in 1999 marked the first television series the studio released.
