Shonenji Temple, Takachiho

Shonenji Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary at the base of Mount Genbuzan with traditional wooden structures and a distinctive gate tower at the main entrance. The complex includes a meeting hall, mausoleum, and other spaces for religious and community activities.

The temple was founded in 1578 by Tanio Yoshimura following the destruction of nearby Genbu-jo Castle during an invasion. This establishment marked a spiritual renewal for the local community after that turbulent period.
