Kururi Castle, Japanese castle in Kimitsu, Japan

The reconstructed three-story main keep of Kururi Castle stands 15 meters tall with white plastered walls on Mount Kururi at 350 meters elevation.

Takeda Nobunaga established the original fortification in 1456, which remained a regional administrative center until its demolition during the Meiji period in 1871.

The castle earned the name 'Rain Castle' due to the frequent rainfall and mist that provided natural protection by concealing the structure from potential attackers.

Visitors can reach the castle grounds by taking the JR Kururi Line to Kururi Station, followed by a local bus service to the castle entrance.

The castle museum displays artifacts from the feudal period, including items belonging to Arai Hakuseki, an influential Edo-period scholar who served at Kururi.
