Hosu District, Administrative district in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
Hosu District is an administrative area in Ishikawa Prefecture that includes the towns of Anamizu and Noto. The region spans rural landscapes with farmland and coastal features characteristic of the Noto Peninsula.
The district formed in 2005 through a merger of two former administrative areas, with each contributing a character to the new name. This consolidation brought different communities under a single governance structure.
The district preserves farming traditions through seasonal gatherings where local growers share harvest displays and cultivation knowledge with neighbors. These practices keep communities connected to the land and each other.
The area can be reached via regional roads connecting to main transportation hubs across Ishikawa Prefecture. Regular bus routes link the different towns within and around the district.
The name blends two Japanese characters taken from the two former districts it replaced. Each character holds the identity of its previous administrative territory.
