Chūō-Rinkan Station, Railway interchange station in Yamato, Japan.
Chūō-Rinkan Station is a rail interchange in Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture, where the Odakyu Enoshima Line meets the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line through above-ground and underground platforms. The two lines use separate platform areas linked by mezzanine levels with stairs and lifts.
The station opened in 1929 under the name Chuo-rinkantoshi Station, when the area still consisted of scattered settlements. The name was shortened to its current form in October 1941 after the surrounding communities began to grow more densely.
The station sits at the edge of Kanagawa Prefecture and serves many commuters as a gateway to the Tokyo metropolitan area. Shops and cafes have clustered around the exits, drawing crowds especially in the morning and late afternoon hours.
The east exit provides direct access to taxis and leads into residential neighborhoods, while the west exit serves several bus stops. Travelers changing between the two lines should follow signs to the other line and use stairs or lifts to reach the connecting level.
This is the western terminus of the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, so all arriving trains on this line must reverse direction here. The Odakyu Enoshima Line continues westward instead, linking Yamato to the coast.
