Obihiro Station, Railway station in Obihiro, Japan
Obihiro Station is the main transportation hub of the city with two elevated island platforms serving four tracks on the Nemuro Main Line. It sits at 42 meters elevation and provides ticket services along with connections to several train routes.
Operations began on 21 October 1905, when it served as the terminus for both the Hiroo and Shihoro Lines. These routes closed in 1987, marking a significant change in how the station functioned.
The station links visitors to the Tokachi region, where they can discover local farm products and regional food specialties of Hokkaido. People passing through here can easily reach the distinctive agricultural traditions that define this rural area.
The station is easy to access and has ticket services through the Midori no Madoguchi office located in the building. Direct trains run to Sapporo with a travel time of about 2 hours 25 minutes.
The Limited Express trains of Series 261 that operate here have design features reflecting the regional landscape of Hokkaido on their exterior. This thoughtful styling tells a visual story of the local surroundings to every passenger.
