Mihama-ku

Mihama Ward is a school zone and college town in Chiba Prefecture, built on reclaimed land from Tokyo Bay. The area combines residential neighborhoods with commercial districts and is organized around numerous educational institutions.

Development started in 1912 with construction of one of Japan's early civilian airfields. The sandy coastal area was gradually transformed into an urbanized center supporting residential and educational growth.

The Makuhari waterfront area is home to the Makuhari Messe convention center and a baseball stadium where the Chiba Lotte Marines play. These venues draw regular crowds of fans, offering a different side from the student-focused neighborhoods.
