Sakurajima Station, Railway station in Konohana district, Osaka, Japan
Sakurajima Station is the terminal stop on the JR Yumesaki Line in Osaka, featuring an island platform that serves two separate tracks. The station connects Sakurajima Island to the city center and beyond toward Nishikujō.
The station opened in 1910 as part of the Nishinari Railway and was later absorbed into the West Japan Railway network. In 1999, it relocated to its current location to make room for nearby development projects.
The station name changed to Yumesaki Line through public voting, reflecting local connections to Universal Studios Japan and industrial development.
The station is straightforward to navigate, with clear signage and direct access to the platforms from the central area. Visitors should check the timetable since this is a terminal station and trains may run at different frequencies depending on the time of day.
The station underwent relocation in 1999 to accommodate the construction of Universal Studios Japan, though the theme park remains accessible only through Universal City Station.
