Arabuko Sokoke National Park

The reserve spans over six square kilometers of ancient forest, containing three distinct types of woodland: mixed forest, Brachystegia, and Cynometra vegetation zones.

The area gained protection status as a Crown Forest in 1943, later becoming a national park in 1990 through formal government registration.

Local communities living near the forest boundaries maintain traditional practices while adapting to conservation requirements established by the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Entry fees for international visitors are 20 dollars for adults and 10 dollars for children, with separate vehicle charges applied at the entrance.

The forest houses 270 bird species, including the Sokoke scops owl and Amani sunbird, representing twenty percent of Kenya's total bird population.
