Pik Semionova Tien-Shanskogo, Mountain summit in Ala Archa National Park, Kyrgyzstan
Pik Semionova Tien-Shanskogo is a mountain summit in the Tien Shan range that rises to about 4,900 meters (16,000 feet). It forms a natural dividing line between the Ala-Archa and Alamedin river valleys.
The peak was named after Peter Semenov-Tian-Shansky, a Russian geographer who explored Central Asian regions during the 1800s. His expeditions contributed significantly to mapping and understanding the geography of this mountain range.
The peak holds significance in Kyrgyz mountaineering traditions, with local climbing clubs establishing multiple routes of varying difficulties for ascents to the summit.
Climbers typically establish a base camp around 3,900 meters (12,800 feet) on the Uchitel Glacier before attempting the ascent. The route demands snow and ice climbing skills along with rock climbing experience.
The peak features a striking northwest face that combines steep snow slopes with demanding rock sections. This wall spans approximately 1,000 meters in height and requires navigating exposed ridge traverses.
