Haeundae District

Haeundae extends over 51 square kilometers along the eastern coast of Busan, featuring a 1.5-kilometer sandy beach and modern high-rise buildings.

The district received its name from ninth-century scholar Choi Chi-won, who carved calligraphy on local rocks after building a pavilion near the beach.

The district hosts the Busan International Film Festival and holds numerous events throughout the year, including the January Polar Bear swimming competition.

Visitors can reach the district through Busan Subway Line 2 or the Donghae Nambu railway, with both stations located next to each other.

The Nurimaru APEC House, constructed for the 2005 summit, incorporates design elements from the ancient Seokguram Buddhist temple.
