Cheongdo County, Administrative county in North Gyeongsang, South Korea
Cheongdo County is an administrative area in North Gyeongsang Province with hills and valleys across its landscape. Agriculture shapes the region, particularly fruit and vegetable farming that takes advantage of the varied terrain.
The region began as Ieso-guk during the Samhan period before eventually falling under Silla control. It received its current name Cheongdo in 940.
The annual bullfighting festival brings together local communities and visitors to watch traditional cattle competitions. This event shows a distinctive local tradition that continues to define how residents gather and celebrate.
The Gyeongbu railway line and Daegu-Busan Expressway connect the region directly to larger cities, making it easy to reach the county seat at Hwayang-eup. Visitors can use these routes to explore the surrounding villages and agricultural areas at their own pace.
The county is divided into numerous natural villages called jayeon burak, scattered across two eup and seven myeon administrative divisions. This traditional structure preserves an older way of organizing communities that has become uncommon in many modern regions.
