Pusan Newport International Terminal, International cargo terminal in Busan, South Korea
Pusan Newport International Terminal is a container port in the New Port area of Busan, South Korea, with several berths along a long quay. Tall loading cranes line the waterfront, and large storage yards for containers sit behind the docking points.
The terminal was built in the 2000s as part of the New Port project, designed to expand capacity beyond the older port of Busan. It opened in 2010 as a joint venture between two major port operators.
Busan is one of the largest port cities in Asia, and this terminal is a visible part of that identity. Visitors looking from the water can see rows of containers in different colors stacked and waiting to move on.
The site is an active work zone not open to the public, with heavy machinery operating at all hours. Those who want to observe the facility from outside can find a few viewpoints near the coastal road that face the port.
Although the terminal opened in 2010, it was designed to grow in phases, with more berths added as demand increases. This modular approach was part of the original plan from the beginning.
