Seoul National University Museum of Art

Seoul National University Museum of Art is an art museum located on the university campus in Seoul, featuring multiple exhibition spaces within a modern glass-clad building. The venue spans roughly 4500 square meters and displays contemporary artworks in a clearly organized architectural design.

The building began as a professor's concept in 1995, was constructed in 2004, and opened in 2006. Its creation marked an important step in modernizing the university's approach to presenting art.

The museum showcases rotating exhibitions of Korean and international artists, connecting the university's academic research with contemporary artistic expressions. Visitors experience how the institution bridges art history and current artistic conversations.

You can reach the museum by taking buses 5511 through 5518 or the metro Line 2 to Seoul National University Station. The campus sits on a slope, so it helps to get oriented before arriving to find your way to the building.

The building was designed by renowned architect Rem Koolhaas and features a striking cantilevered structure on the sloping hillside. The U-shaped glass exterior deliberately reveals the internal supports and framing of the construction.
