Réservoir de Vyatcheslavskoie, Stausee in Kasachstan
The Vyacheslavskoye Reservoir is a man-made lake in the Arshaly District of the Akmola Region. It is surrounded by open, dry land with a calm surface that reflects the sky, and the area has few buildings and minimal vegetation typical of the steppe.
The reservoir was built in the 1960s and later expanded in the early 2000s to support the growing water needs of the new capital city Astana. It was created as part of efforts to supply water from the Irtych River to the region.
Local people visit the reservoir mainly for peaceful outings, especially families and fishermen who value the quietness. The area follows a slow rhythm, with visitors sometimes gathering by the water's edge to rest or watch the view.
The reservoir is accessible year-round, though ice covers the water for several months in winter. Wear appropriate seasonal clothing when visiting, and be aware that paths around the water exist for walking or biking.
The water attracts waterfowl such as ducks and herons, especially during migration seasons. The area serves as an important resting point for migratory birds, making it a peaceful spot for observing wildlife.
