The construction of Barys Arena began in 2012 after KHL auditors determined the previous venue did not meet league standards in 2011.
Barys Arena serves as the central venue for ice hockey in Kazakhstan, hosting matches of Barys Astana team in the Kontinental Hockey League.
The arena contains 12,000 seats for regular spectators and 800 VIP seats, with a restaurant offering direct views of sporting events.
Besides the main ice rink, the facility includes an Olympic swimming pool with platforms for diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming competitions.
