Tarbagatai National Park

Tarbagatai National Park is a protected area encompassing mountain slopes, steppe grasslands, and river systems in eastern Kazakhstan's Urzhar District. The park combines different landscape types and ecosystems within its boundaries.

The park was established in 2018 as part of Kazakhstan's national protected areas system. This designation aimed to preserve the region's natural landscapes and biodiversity for the future.

The territory contains locations of traditional significance to local communities, who maintained nomadic practices and sustainable land management through generations.

The area is divided into zones with different access requirements, and visitors must obtain permits depending on which sections they wish to visit. Checking regulations in advance helps ensure a smooth visit to the park.

The park harbors many plant species that grow nowhere else and rare animals protected under national conservation lists. Among these distinctive species is a native apple variety found only in this region.
