Hikkaduwa National Park

The national park extends along four kilometers of coastline with a fringing coral reef reaching depths of five meters beneath the surface.

Following its initial protection status as a wildlife sanctuary in 1979, the area received national park designation in 2002 to safeguard marine ecosystems.

Local fishermen maintain traditional practices while operating alongside conservation efforts, contributing to sustainable marine resource management in the region.

The entrance fee of 380 LKR grants access to snorkeling, diving, and boat tours, with supervised activities available throughout the operating hours.

The protected waters contain 60 coral species and 170 reef fish varieties, including the Sri Lankan endemic coral Porites desilveri.
