Colombo Port Maritime Museum, Maritime museum near Colombo Port, Sri Lanka
The museum exhibits maritime artifacts, equipment, and model ships in a restored Dutch prison building from 1676 at Chaithya Road.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority established this museum in August 2003, transforming a Dutch colonial prison into an educational maritime institution.
The exhibition includes sculptures of King Vijeya and maritime artifacts that demonstrate Sri Lanka's connection with naval trade through centuries.
Visitors can explore the museum from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with special arrangements for school groups on weekends.
The museum occupies the single remaining Dutch colonial structure within the Colombo Port area, restored at a cost of 25 million rupees.
