Podgorica City Stadium, Football stadium in Montenegro
Podgorica City Stadium is a football venue in the capital of Montenegro. It has four stands - North, South, East, and West - with a total capacity of just over 11,000 spectators, with the West Stand being the largest and equipped with modern seating.
The stadium opened in 1945 shortly after World War II and initially served as a simple playing field with minimal facilities. After a fire in 1954 destroyed major sections, it was rebuilt with stronger stands and increased capacity.
The stadium takes the name of the city and serves as a central gathering place for football supporters from Podgorica. Fans meet here to cheer for their teams, and the atmosphere during matches is marked by loud singing and waving flags.
The stadium sits about 2 kilometers from the city center and is easily reached by public transport or taxi. It is wise to buy snacks and drinks before entering, as food options inside are limited and only a small souvenir shop is available.
The playing field was resurfaced in 2025 with a hybrid grass system to keep it in good condition even during hot weather. This upgrade shows that the ground continues to be modernized for international matches, even as parts of the stadium await renovation.
