Lovćen National Park

Lovćen National Park spans 6220 acres of rocky terrain in the Dinara Alps, featuring steep slopes that rise from the coastal region of Budva.

The park contains a mausoleum constructed between 1951 and 1974, replacing an earlier church that held the remains of Petar II Petrovic Njegos until World War II.

Mount Lovćen represents Montenegro's national identity, with its dark forests inspiring the country's name, first mentioned in a charter from Stefan Milutin in 1276.

Visitors can access nine different habitats through marked trails, with options for Nordic skiing in winter and hiking routes connecting to Kotor Old Town.

The mountain houses the world's highest mausoleum at 1660 meters above sea level, reached by climbing 461 stairs from the parking area.
