The project emerged as a response to a devastating earthquake in 1979 and received official approval decades later. It was completed and consecrated in 2016.
The church is named after Saint Jovan Vladimir, a venerated medieval holy figure in Serbian Orthodox tradition. Visitors can observe the elaborate frescoes covering the interior walls that tell religious stories and reflect deep faith.
The church is open to visitors during set hours and appropriate attire is expected when visiting. The large capacity means you can move around comfortably inside even during services.
The building was constructed using specially aged lime mortar, with some materials sourced from locations nearby. These traditional components were prepared over many years to ensure durability.
