Ténéré desert

The name originates from Tuareg language, as these nomadic people developed methods to navigate through the area using sand dunes as natural markers.

Water sources remain scarce throughout the desert, with distances between wells often extending hundreds of kilometers in this harsh environment.

Summer temperatures in the Bilma oasis reach 42 degrees Celsius, while annual rainfall measures only 25 millimeters across the entire region.
