Kaduna State, Administrative division in northern Nigeria
The state stretches across northern Nigeria with the Kaduna River flowing through its center, featuring savanna woodlands and agricultural lands.
The territory became Kaduna State in 1976 after being part of Northern Nigeria, inheriting a legacy of British colonial administration from 1900.
The region contains 59 ethnic groups, with Hausa and Fulani populations in the north and numerous other communities including Gbari in the southern areas.
The state capital Kaduna functions as a transportation center with an international airport, railway connections to Lagos, and multiple educational institutions.
The name Kaduna derives from the Hausa word Kaddanni, referring to the crocodiles that inhabited the Kaduna River during earlier periods.
