District V, Administrative district in Managua, Nicaragua.
District V is an administrative district in eastern Managua, Nicaragua, covering residential neighborhoods, markets, hospitals, and public facilities. It runs from denser central areas toward newer residential developments in the south.
District V took its current shape in 2009 when a municipal ordinance redrew Managua's administrative boundaries. This reorganization replaced earlier divisions that had been in place since the city was rebuilt after the 1972 earthquake.
The Roberto Huembes Market is one of the most visited markets in Managua and sits inside this district. Vendors sell fresh produce, meat, crafts, and everyday goods along rows of stalls under a large covered structure.
The district is easy to reach by bus from other parts of Managua, with main roads crossing through it. Anyone looking for a specific place, such as the market or a health center, should check its location in advance since distances between facilities can be long.
The southern part of the district is home to Las Colinas and Altos de Santo Domingo, two residential areas that grew up along one of the few wide roads in that part of the city. These areas look and feel noticeably different from the older, denser neighborhoods closer to the center.
