Dadu District, Administrative district in Hyderabad Division, Pakistan
Dadu District is an administrative area in Hyderabad Division that stretches along the Indus River. It is divided into four local administrative units: Dadu, Johi, Khairpur Nathan Shah, and Mehar.
The district was formed in 1931 when separate administrative areas from Karachi and Larkana were merged together. Dadu city was established as the administrative center of this newly created region.
Sindhi is the main language spoken by residents throughout their daily lives and social interactions. Local communities maintain traditional customs closely linked to the river and agricultural practices.
The district has several colleges and higher education institutions connected to the University of Sindh. Visitors should plan their visit between October and March when the weather is more comfortable.
The district contains Gorakh Hill, the highest point in Sindh province, and borders Manchar Lake. This freshwater lake is the largest of its kind in the country and creates a distinctive landscape feature.
