Hub Dam Wildlife Sanctuary, Wildlife refuge and Ramsar site near Karachi, Pakistan.
The Hub Dam Wildlife Sanctuary spans 27,000 hectares around a water reservoir, supporting numerous fish species and serving as a habitat for waterbirds.
The area received wildlife sanctuary status in 1974, following the construction of Hub Dam, which began in September 1963 and completed in 1981.
The World Wildlife Fund established a wetland visitors center at the sanctuary in 1999, promoting education about wetland conservation among local communities.
The sanctuary provides irrigation water to Lasbella District and drinking water to Karachi while offering opportunities for bird watching and sport fishing.
The native Mahseer fish in the Hub River reaches lengths of up to 2 meters, making the sanctuary a notable location for fishing enthusiasts.
