Qamar House, Art Deco building in central Karachi, Pakistan.
Qamar House is a twelve-story Art Deco building located on Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road in central Karachi. Its facade displays the geometric lines and ornamental details typical of this architectural style.
Designed in 1945 by Qamardin Mahomed Hashwani, the building stood as Karachi's tallest structure for over two decades. Its prominence ended when the Habib Bank Plaza was completed in 1968.
The building shows how architecture shifted from colonial styles to modern Pakistani design after independence. You can see this change reflected in its forms and details.
The building now houses an insurance company and stands out clearly on Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road in the city center. You can view and photograph it from the street as it remains an important landmark.
The Sindh Government recognized the structure as a national heritage monument in 2011. This official designation highlights its importance to the city's architectural legacy.
