Chaukhandi tombs, Islamic cemetery in Sindh, Pakistan.
The Chaukhandi tombs form a necropolis constructed from sandstone, featuring detailed geometric patterns and carved illustrations spread across 1500 graves.
These burial monuments, dating from the 15th to 18th centuries during Mughal rule, belong primarily to the noble families of the Jokhio tribe.
The tombs display north-south oriented sarcophagi with six vertical slabs, creating distinctive pyramid shapes adorned with carvings of horsemen and hunting scenes.
The cemetery lies 29 kilometers east of Karachi in an industrial area, offering free entry with basic facilities including restrooms and guidance from local caretakers.
Each tomb incorporates a double structure system where a smaller sarcophagus sits atop the main chamber, resulting in elevated platforms with detailed stone decorations.
