Hub Dam

Hub Dam is an earth-fill structure located at the border between Sindh and Balochistan provinces that holds back a substantial water reservoir. The body of water supports several recreational activities including hiking, bird watching, and fishing for visitors throughout the year.

Construction of this water supply project began in 1963 and finished in 1981. The infrastructure was built to serve the water needs of the surrounding region.

The reservoir area became a protected wildlife zone in 1974 and now hosts over 200 bird species alongside native plants throughout its grounds. Visitors can observe rare species here that gather nowhere else in such numbers across the region.

Access to the site is available via National Highway 25 from Karachi, and it can be visited year-round without seasonal restrictions. Bring proper clothing for outdoor activities and be aware that water levels vary significantly with rainfall patterns.

Water levels can rise dramatically during heavy monsoon rains, shifting the landscape in just a few months. This makes the site sensitive to seasonal weather patterns that define the region.
