The granite faces of Great Trango Tower attract international mountaineers to Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, where climbing expeditions connect with local Balti communities.
Climbers require 35 to 45 days to complete an expedition, starting from Islamabad with a flight to Skardu before trekking through Askole to reach base camp.
The east face of Great Trango Tower presents the world's largest nearly vertical drop, making it a premier destination for technical climbing and BASE jumping.
