Great Trango Tower

Great Trango Tower is a distinctive mountain summit in the Karakoram range with vertical granite walls and multiple peaks. The steeply rising rock formations make this location a well-known destination for mountaineers seeking technical climbing.

The first successful ascent took place in 1977 when mountaineers reached the summit and opened the route for future expeditions. Since then, this peak has become a classic destination in high-altitude climbing.

The granite rock faces draw climbers from around the world and connect expeditions with local Balti communities in the region. Visitors meet people who have lived in this high mountain area for generations and shape the climbing culture here.
