Trango Glacier, Mountain glacier in Baltoro Muztagh range, Pakistan.
The Trango Glacier extends from north to south along the western side of the Trango Towers, connecting with the larger Baltoro Glacier system.
The first detailed mapping of Trango Glacier occurred during the 1977 expedition that achieved the initial ascent of the Great Trango Tower.
Local Balti communities maintain traditional knowledge of safe passage through the glacier, passing expertise from generation to generation.
Mountaineers require permits from Pakistani authorities and specialized equipment to traverse the glacier between May and September when conditions permit access.
The glacier provides access to the world's largest vertical cliff face, measuring 1,340 meters in height along the Great Trango Tower.
