Malubiting, Mountain peak in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
Malubiting is a mountain peak in the Karakoram range that rises to 7,458 meters. The summit sits between the Haramosh and Hispar Valley, making it the second highest in this part of the range.
The first successful ascent happened in 1971 when an Austrian team led by Horst Schindlbacher climbed the Northeast Ridge. Multiple attempts by other mountaineers had failed in the years before this breakthrough.
The mountain stands near communities in Gilgit-Baltistan who maintain traditional practices influenced by the surrounding high-altitude environment and natural resources.
Mountaineers need official permission before attempting to climb this peak and must plan well in advance. Spring and summer offer the most stable weather conditions for climbing attempts.
The Chogo Lungma Glacier flows down from the slopes and feeds the river systems below. The peak towers sharply above Haramosh Jutial village and the nearby river valley.
