Mianwali District, Administrative district in northwestern Punjab, Pakistan
Mianwali District is an administrative region spanning approximately 5,900 square kilometers in northwestern Punjab, positioned along the boundary with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The territory is divided into three administrative sections, with Mianwali city serving as the main administrative center.
The district was established in 1901, created from portions of Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan districts. It became integrated into Sargodha Division in 1961 following various administrative reorganizations.
Saraiki is the primary language spoken by residents, reflecting the local identity and everyday communication across communities. This linguistic heritage shapes how people interact in markets, homes, and public spaces throughout the region.
The terrain varies between rolling and flat areas with agricultural zones, accessible by road or air from major Punjab cities. Visitors should know that rural areas may have limited amenities, so planning ahead and using local guides proves helpful.
A major nuclear power facility operates within this district, developed through collaboration between Pakistan and China. This installation plays a significant role in the country's energy production and stands out as an important industrial presence in the region.
