Sukkur Airport, Commercial airport in Sukkur District, Pakistan
Sukkur Airport is a commercial aerodrome in Sukkur District, Sindh province, Pakistan. It operates scheduled flights to major Pakistani cities including Islamabad and Karachi, and has a single paved runway.
The site was built in 1942 during British rule as a military airfield. After Pakistan's independence, it gradually shifted to civilian passenger and cargo operations.
The airport carries the official name Begum Nusrat Bhutto Airport, after the mother of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Most travelers still refer to it by its original name, and the official one appears mainly on signage and documents.
The airport is reachable by road from Sukkur city and offers basic facilities for arrivals and departures. Because it is a small airport with a limited number of daily flights, checking the schedule before you travel is a good idea.
During the Hajj season each year, the airport runs special flights toward Jeddah and Medina for pilgrims from the region. This seasonal traffic makes the airport noticeably busier than during the rest of the year.
