Nicholson's Obelisk, Historical monument at Margalla Pass near Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
The granite obelisk rises 40 feet above the Margalla Hills, overlooking the Grand Trunk Road that connects Islamabad with Peshawar.
Built in 1868, this memorial honors Brigadier-General John Nicholson, who served in the British East India Company and participated in multiple military campaigns.
The monument represents the architectural style of British colonial memorials, featuring a commemorative plaque detailing Nicholson's military achievements in British India.
Visitors need to climb a staircase to reach the base of the monument, which stands approximately 40 kilometers from the center of Islamabad.
A small memorial fountain sits at the base of the hillock, marking the exact location where Nicholson sustained injuries during the First Anglo-Sikh War.
