Bug Landscape Park

The Bug Landscape Park extends across about 741 square kilometers along the Bug River, combining wetlands, forests, and meadows into a large natural mosaic. Within this protected area, 14 smaller nature reserves offer marked hiking trails for visitors to explore on foot.

The area was established as a protected landscape park in 1993, encompassing portions of three historical regions: Kurpie, Masovia, and Podlasie. This protection has allowed traditional ways of life from these regions to continue within the park boundaries.

Local communities gather here for regional festivals that celebrate farming traditions and regional identity. These events bring people together to share knowledge about local crops and craft skills.

The park features marked trails suitable for hiking, and it is especially popular with birdwatchers who explore areas near the Bug River. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and bring weather-appropriate clothing, as the ground in wetland areas can be damp.

The park protects 251 natural monuments scattered throughout, ranging from remarkable trees to ant hills and underground fungal formations. Walking through the area means you might encounter these hidden natural wonders almost anywhere.
