Schronisko PTTK "Nad Łomniczką", Mountain hut in Karkonosze Mountains, Poland
Schronisko PTTK 'Nad Łomniczką' is a wooden shelter in a mountain valley at 1002 meters elevation. It sits below Kocioł Łomniczki along the trail connecting Karpacz to Śnieżka peak.
The building started as a hunting lodge in the early 1800s and was converted to a mountain shelter around 1890. The current structure dates to 1902 and has remained at this location since then.
The shelter serves as a gathering point for hikers crossing the steep mountain trails in the region. Visitors pause here to rest and enjoy warm beverages before continuing their journeys through the peaks.
The shelter serves meals during the day but does not offer overnight accommodation, making it suitable for day hikers. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for rapid weather changes in the mountains.
Near the shelter flows the Łomniczka Waterfall, with water cascading over moss-covered rocks. The surroundings feature dwarf birch trees and mountain rowan, creating a distinctive natural setting.
