Czarnostawiańska Siklawa, Cascading waterfall in Tatra National Park, Poland
Czarnostawiańska Siklawa is a cascading waterfall in the High Tatras that descends from Czarny Staw lake toward Morskie Oko. The water drops through multiple stages across a vertical drop of roughly 140 meters, fed by the Czarnostawiański Potok stream.
The waterfall was first documented in the early 1800s when mountaineers began exploring routes through Rybi Potok Valley. It became established as a known landmark on journeys through the High Tatras.
Mountain guides have long woven this waterfall into their walking routes, passing down knowledge of the High Tatras to visitors. It remains a landmark that connects people to the region's landscape.
Reaching this waterfall means starting from Lysa Polana parking area and walking to Morskie Oko lake, then continuing upward to the viewing points. The trails are marked and manageable for people with moderate fitness level.
Water flow changes noticeably with the seasons, swelling dramatically in spring when snow melts from the mountain slopes. During drier months, the cascade diminishes significantly, showing very different faces depending on when you visit.
