Malá Babia hora, Mountain summit in Oravské Beskydy, Slovakia.
Mála Babia Góra is a mountain summit in the Western Beskids standing at approximately 1500 meters on the Slovak-Polish border. The peak lies within a protected landscape area and features several marked hiking routes that lead to the top from nearby valleys.
The mountain became part of the Protected Landscape Area Horná Orava, establishing its conservation status in the borderland region. This designation has defined its role in protecting natural heritage since its creation several decades ago.
The summit serves as a meeting point for Slovak and Polish hikers, where people from both countries share their mountain traditions. Its location on the border creates a natural gathering place for outdoor enthusiasts from neighboring regions.
Hiking to the summit begins from Sláná voda following clearly marked trails through forests and meadows. A complete round trip takes roughly seven hours, so visitors should start early and wear proper mountain footwear.
The summit offers views of two distinct river systems: the Vistula flowing northwest toward the Baltic Sea and the Orava to the south draining toward the Danube basin. This watershed division makes it a special vantage point for observing natural drainage patterns.
