Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Vitórias, Neo-Gothic chapel at Furnas Lake, Azores, Portugal.

Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Vitórias is a Neo-Gothic house of prayer on the shore of Furnas Lake. The building features a slender tower with ornate stone detailing, colored glass windows, and interior spaces decorated with valuable elements on walls and altars.

The building was commissioned in 1882 as a family project and became a resting place for deceased family members. Its design and construction show influences from 19th-century European church architecture.

The chapel displays religious artwork still visible today: windows showing Bible stories and an altar with gleaming details. The space feels solemn and reflective, serving as a place for quiet prayer and thought.

The location is somewhat outside the town center and reachable on foot if you have time for a leisurely walk. It is a good idea to bring weather-resistant clothing, as the area has a damp climate and the access routes can sometimes be challenging.

The architect drew inspiration from a famous church in France and used stone from the island as building material. This blend of foreign models and local resources makes the structure distinctive for the region.
