Crkva Svetog Georgija u Bežaniji

The Church of Saint George is a parish church with neoclassical design located in the Bežanija neighborhood. Its interior is divided into sections by arches and pilasters, while a three-tier bell tower and semi-circular apse define its exterior form.

The building was constructed in the late 19th century and underwent major renovation in the 1930s, when its interior was substantially refreshed. This renovation transformed its appearance and added new artistic elements.

The church serves as the spiritual center for the local Orthodox community, drawing worshippers from the surrounding neighborhood for regular services. Its dedication to Saint George reflects a venerated figure in Serbian Orthodox tradition.

Some of the church's original artistic elements were transferred to other locations over time and no longer remain in their original place. This dispersal reflects how religious artworks moved between communities during different periods.
