Pulkovo Observatory, Research observatory in Moskovsky District, Saint Petersburg, Russia

Pulkovo Observatory is a research facility situated on elevated ground and equipped with various telescopes and scientific instruments for studying the sky. It consists of several buildings and departments that together form a large network dedicated to astronomical work.

The facility was founded in the 1830s and was a center of scientific innovation with cutting-edge equipment for its time. After damage and reconstruction in the 20th century, it became one of the Soviet Union's most important research centers.

This facility has served as a center for astronomical research in Russia and draws scholars from across the globe. Walking through it today, you can sense how careful observation and measurement shaped our knowledge of the night sky.

The site is located outside the center of Saint Petersburg and is best reached by public transport or private transportation. It is best to visit during daylight hours when the buildings and grounds are easiest to explore and observe.

During mid-20th century reconstruction, the facility was greatly enlarged and equipped with modern instruments, including one of the Soviet Union's first radio astronomy stations. This expansion made it one of the most versatile research centers of its era.
